Okay this weekend was awesome!
Friday night, I got to hang out with Glenn and Daniel. And they are pretty awesome. It was fun.
Then, on Saturday, I went to Meron's bithday party. She held it on a party bus. Yep, super VIP! Naah, it was an old school bus painted black, and pimped on the inside. But it was fun, we danced with the pole (ha ha ha ha, I know) and yelled at people we were driving by.
After the party, I went to Brianna's house. We went to see the new James Bond. I really liked it. But it was too short somehow.. It felt like a lot of information was missing. But whatever, I liked it. And the girl is soooooooo pretty! And her name is Camille! Yay :D
Sunday morning, I went to church with Brianna and her family. That was really different. People were wearing nice clothes, they said AMEN at random moments, and it took 2 hours. I think I would have liked it if had not been that long. I also felt kind of akward, because I was the only white person in the church. Not that I am judging by skin colors, but other people do (no offence, but it's the truth).
Afterwards we (Brianna and I) went to the High Museum with Brianna's .. group.. of young people? I don't really know what it was. A group for young black kids. So again, I was the only white kid, and they all looked at me like I was.. very very outstanding. But when we told them that I was a foreign exchange student, they were all cool.
We saw an exhibition called The First Emperor. It was about the Qin dynasty and the Terracotta army, and very interesting. I liked it.

After that I just went home and chilled out with the family. Kyohei and Marina were there, so it was extra fun!

We are leaving for Nebraska on Tuesday! Yay! My first Thanksgiving.

Well that was it. I really hope I get my camera cord back soon, so that I can upload some pictures!

Hope y'all are doing well!

Picture time! Yay

So Alex, my italian AFS friend, came over this weekend! We went to the CNN center, Underground Atlanta - which is kind of a mall, but underground, where the railroads used to be. We also went to see a musical; the Altar boyz - which was absolutely hilarious!
And enjoy the few pictures:

Alex being cool while waiting for CNN guided tour

Me being an angel (as always, duh).

Alex and I in front of a big CNN sign.

Like requested from my dear mom, pictures of my new host family:

Marina, Carolina and Jimmy Dean.

Enjoy the beauty of the mountains of Georgia. And of ME!

SUP? ;D

Well, I feel like I have to tell you about my weekend, because it was really awesome.

So Friday night, I was supposed to go to Shelby's house, for a sleepover. So we did. And when I walked in to her room, 7 girls jumped out of all kinds of their hiding places and yelled "SURPRIIIIISE!"! (Hayley, Caroline, Anna, Peyton, Maria, Katie and Claire. And of course, Shelby and myself were there also). They did that because I wasn't going to have a sweet 16 birthday party. That was soooooo nice of them!!!! I jumped up at first and almost screamed, but afterward, I almost cried of joy.
We had dinner, cake, danced, did our hair and make up, talked, and stuff like that. It was a great night.

Then Saturday night, Of Montreal was playing at the Tabernacle - a venue in Atlanta. I went with Leigh Ann, Cat, Rachel, Glenn, Jake & Daniel. They are all seniors, so I do feel kind of young, but they're being really nice, so I don't think it matters to them. Which is good, because they're awesome people.
The concert itself was pretty amazing. The stage-show was really cool. They all wore different costumes for every sond and they danced and stuff like that.
When the concert was over, we went to sleep at Daniel's house. We = Glenn, Jake, Daniel and me. We played Nintendo64, ordered pizza, watched a movie, and finally went to sleep at.. 5 am. At least, Glenn and I did.
Next morning we went to The Original Pancake House and had pancakes. They were really good. Fun times!

Everything is going pretty well at school. Chinese is getting more intense, but I really like it, so it is okay.
French is fun. I really enjoy being able to communicate with a native French person (my teacher, M. Mourjan). Actually, to make this a bit more fun, a funny quote!
M. Mourjan: Où est Lindsay aujourd'hui?
David (with a very American accent): Ca n'est pas mes oignons monsieur!
- It just seemed funny that a non-native or at least fluent, would use that expression..
I laughed pretty hard for a couple of minutes. Which I do often. As the only one, the other students don't understand the funny stuff.
We started to sing the Messiah in Chorus. It's fun. And hard - like WOW. But I will learn it. Somehow, I will!
We are working on a Graffiti project in Art. It is going to be sooooo awesome! I'm really excited about it.

I am really obsessed by Jean-Baptiste Maunier at the moment. He is the guy from Les Choriste. His voice was amazing! I'm getting really into this chorus/chorale music. It's fun. And it really sounds good!
I wish I could make a CD with all the songs, so you could all hear it.
All the songs sound so beautiful after working hard on them. Like really.

Hmm.. What else can I tell?
Oh, it's getting cold now. I can't wear shorts anymore. Which is kind of depressing. Especially beacuse I can't go buy new jeans, BECAUSE THE DOLLAR IS WORTH 6 KR! It's insane.

Oh well, I hope y'all are doing good!

4. november 2008

Finally! Electionday!
This is sooooo exciting! I am constantly updating nbc.com and cnn.com to see the results.

So far, Obama has 206 electoral votes and McCain has 89.  Which is good.
But since they're just getting to the middle of the country, all the north east states already voted (for Obama). And now McCain is going to get a lot of votes from those conservative middle-states.
They're not completly done counting in any of the states anyway.
I really do hope that Obama wins though.

I went with Agnes when she went voting. They do it on computers in Georgia. I hope you can trust the system..
AND I got a "I am a Georgia voter!"-sticker. Yay!
Marina went voting a couple of days ago and told us about how it went.
She was registered in downtown Atlanta, which is the most crowded area - of course. She told us that there were only 22 voting computers, so she had to stand in line for 4 hours. And it wasn't even the actual election day!
That is the area where all the black population is. So of course, they were all going to vote for Obama, and the REPUBLICAN state of Georgia made sure that they couldn't afford to stand in line for 4 hours to vote. That is so not democracy. 60% of Atlanta's population is black. How can McCain have 60% in Georgia of the votes if everybody got a chance to vote?
I think there is something wrong..
Oh, and I am not just assuming that all black people vote for Obama, because of a skincolor. But the truth is that a lot of black people I know, vote for Obama, because he is black. And that is also true in the rest of the country.

Anyways, while I am waiting for updates, let me tell you about something else.
On sunday, I went to Little Five Points with Glenn, Leigh Ann and Katherine. It's a pretty hip area, with cool people and cool stores. We went to this shop call Rag-O-Rama where you can turn in your old clothes and they buy it from you, and sell it in the store. Which means that there was this store FULL of vintage-2nd hand-cool stuff!
I got a shirt saying "Screw the war lets dance!" and a Nike jacket. Like really 80's style.
We had fun.. So that was good.

Well, I have to go to bed.
Oh, Obama will totally win if he gets California (which he will) and Virginia or Florida. And he has 51% of the votes i both states, so far! YAY!
No McCain= no dumb Palin as president, because he would die anyway.

Well, you'll probably all know the results when you read this anyway.

2. november 2008

SOOOOO, as you should know, my birthday was on friday! It was the most amazing birthday ever.

I English class, on thursday, mr. Finsthwait handed me an article about Copenhagen from an old newspaper. I read it and felt a bit sad. "Tomorrow is my birthday, I am going to celebrate it without my family, lagkage, the songs, breakfast in bed and so on. And now I miss my beloved city with all the nice places to go that they talked about in the article!". Mr. Finsthwait asked me if I felt a bit homesick, and I nodded and started crying. I was really convinced that my life was horrible at that point.
But at night, Agnes had invited 2 friend - Ruth and Francoise, and we all had dinner together. Steve was in Texas. Anyways; it was a nice night. So it cheered me up a bit.
Then, the next morning, Agnes woke me up handing me the phone, and mama was on the line! So I did get my wake up-song!
I went to school, and everybody there were all like "oooh happy birthday!!!". Birthdays are a big deal here. But I think I got more attention because I am "the Danish exchange student".
Hayley brought me a huge Disney-princess-singing-balloon that sang "happy birthday" and said "may all your birthday wishes come true!" everytime someone tapped it. Shelby brought me a "Sweet 16!" balloon, and Caroline brought me a.. regular black balloon. Hahaha! I also got a Barbie balloon in my homeroom. Rachel got me a spongebob balloon, but it flew out of her car, so I never actually got it.
Also, people brought me cookies (Hayley, Shelby Dover, Ses), brownies (Shelby, Bess), candy (Danielle, Bryana) and I even got Oreos from Brianna, cupcakes from Cammie and a drawing from Taylor!
Anne made me a sign on a piece of paper that said "happy halloween, I'M 16". It was hanging on my neck all day. (It's a tradition here, so everybody can see that it is your birthday)
In homeroom (which is the first 10 minutes in the morning, where we read announcements) they had a halloween-cake with green icing saying "happy birthday Camille!".
I had Chinese in the first period and our teacher told us that we were cooking today. We made stirfried rice and eggrolls. They were really really good!
Next period was chorus. Mr. Morris made everybody sing for me.
Then we had an assembly. I was sitting on the front row with the seniors (usually, only the seniors can sit in the front. So sophomore sitting with seniors? not happening. But it did on friday, because I am so amazing. Nahh, just kidding ;D). Anyways; there was an a'capella concert during that assembly. At the end, 4 girls in my grade that are in women's a'capella, grabbed the microphone and said "Today is a very special day - a danish girl we all know's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMILLE!", and the whole high school clapped. That was funny.. ahaha
In my french class, M. Mourjan decided that he didn't feel like working with Antigone, so we watched a french movie - Les Compères. I liked it a lot, even though we didn't get to watch all of it.
In my free period, one of the high school counselors, Ms. Davis, took me to lunch. That was very nice of her!
Afterall, I had an amazing day at school - with a looooooot of food.

After school, I went home with Ses and Brianna. We all went to Ses' house. I was pretty tired, so I took a nap. It was dark when I woke up and time for TRICK-OR-TREAT-ING! Afterall, it was my only halloween in the US. So the three of us dressed up, and walked for a looooong time in the neighborhood and got tons and tons of candy. We had a great time. Brianna had to leave at 10 though, because she had a cross country meeting next morning (cross country = running 1.000.000.000 miles). But then Sarah and Farah joined us. We stayed up most of the night, talking..
What a fuuuuuuuuun birthday!

Today, sunday, Agnes, Steve and I went to the mountains, with some of Agnes' and Steve's spanish friends. It was a beautiful and quite long walk. And they all spoke spanish most of the time, which I didn't understand at all. But, at a point, the kids tried to talk to me in English. So I wasn't completely isolated all day.
Tonight, we went to Ruth's house for dinner. Marina (my host sister, who is in college and lives in Athen) and Kyohei (her boyfriend) were also there! I love them. They are so nice to me.

AND tomorrow = NO SCHOOL YAY! It's teacher-something day, so no school for Westminster kids. I love my life. Haha

Oh, and it has been decided that I will stay with the Mathesons the rest of the year. So let me introduce you to the family, just quickly.
There is Agnes - the mother, who was my liason untill.. 10 days ago.
Then Steve - the father. A funny guy
Carolina - the 18 year old daughter. She goes to college in Saint Louis, where she studies architecture (so I don't get to see her often).
Marina - the 21 year old daughter. She goes to college in Athens, where she studies landscape architecture(1 hour drive from here, so I do get to see her in weekends).
And then, Jimmy-Dean - the old dog.

I really feel confortable with this family, even though I have only been here for 10 days, or so. I am happy that this is working out better.
Everything is getting better, so I am convinced that this year will be absolutely amazing.

I hope y'all are doing great!
Camille
